COLLEGE NOTES

DAN GUTMANN (Seneca Valley), a junior on the Westminster men’s swimming and diving team, captured the 100 breaststroke Friday at the PAC Championships with a career-best time of 57.63, which is good as an NCAA provisional qualifying time. On Saturday, Gutmann’s 400 free relay placed second with a time of 3:08.52•

MERRISA MALCOLM (Freeport) placed second in the pole vault with a leap of 10 3/4 as the Westminster College women’s track and field team took part in the Kenyon College Classic Saturday.•

MEGAN GEBROSKY (Seneca Valley), a member of the Grove City women’s basketball team, had 10 points, five rebounds and five assists in the Wolverines’ 63-59 loss to Thiel College Saturday.•

JUSTIN PRITCHARD (Seneca Valley) placed second in the conference and sixth overall in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:11.58 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men’s Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday as the Lions won their sixth consecutive title.•

ANDREW OPALEWSKI (Slippery Rock) placed third in the 100 free (48.97) at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men’s Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday.•

GARRETT SHAW (Knoch) finished in third place in the men’s pole vault (4.27 meters) for the Penn State Behrend men’s track and field team at the Kenyon College Classic on Saturday.
