SRU splits in softball
Slippery Rock University's Katie Saluga drove in four runs over the final three innings in the second game of a doubleheader to secure a 4-3 win and a split over Gannon in PSAC-West softball action.
SRU dropped the first game, 4-2.
Saluga had three hits, including two doubles along with the RBI to help SRU move to 16-17 overall and 3-11 in the conference.
Saluga's two-out, two-run double would prove to be the difference.
In the first game, SRU also trailed 3-0, but Kristen Brant (Knoch) belted a two-run double in the sixth inning to make it a one-run game. Gannon, however, would add an insurance run and make it stand.
The Rock will close out the season Saturday at home against California (Pa.).
