SRU lacrosse sets win record

The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team set a program record with its 12th win in a comeback 14-13 victory over Seton Hill Saturday.

The Rock (12-5) trailed 13-10 with less than five minutes remaining in the game before its rally.

Casey Quinn scored two goals in the comeback and Lauren Laubach scored the tying goal.

Paige Costantino scored the winning goal with just six seconds remaining.

Quinn became the second player in school history to reach 150 career goals.

The 12 wins are the most since 1983.

The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team suffered a 5-3 loss to Charleston in the first round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional tournament at Indiana (Pa.) University Saturday night.Senior Sarah Lynch had a hand in two of the three Rock wins. She claimed the No. 1 singles match before teaming with senior Dunja Drmac to capture the No. 1 doubles match.Junior Elisabeth Yetiskul won at No. 3 singles for The Rock, which finished the season at 15-6.

Four Slippery Rock Univeristy women's outdoor track and field athletes met the NCAA provisional qualifying standards at the Ashland Alumni Invitational Saturday.Pole Vaulters Julia Cain and Kell Fischer both hit the NCAA marks. Cain cleared 3.67 meters and Fischer 3.55 meters.Lexi Arnold recorded a season-high distance in the javelin with a throw of 43.05 meters to place second and teammate Kim Goth finished third with a throw of 40.30 meters. Both were qualifying throws.On the men's side, The Rock 1,600-meter relay team of Vanere Maynard, Hinter Williams, Trevor Foley and Kevin Jewel had a season-best time of 3 minutes, 18.15 seconds to place first.
