Rock lacrosse falls at Belmont Abbey

The Slippery Rock University women’s lacrosse team dropped a 17-14 decision to Belmont Abbey College Saturday to close its annual spring break trip.

Holly Webb paced SRU (1-1) with four goals and an assist while Morgan Pettit and Katie Cook scored three goals each. Jess Verbic and Kaytlin Callaghan both had a goal and three assists.

Hanna Houde recorded nine saves in goal for The Rock.

Makenzie Miller scored seven goals for Belmont Abbey.

The Rock opens PSAC play at 4 p.m. today at Mercyhurst. The home opener is at 7 p.m. Thursday vs. Shepherd.

Water Polo

Grove City College improved to 7-0 Saturday with wins of 11-8 over Macalester and 12-3 over Utica at Penn State Behrend’s Junker Center.

Lauren Hulsebus scored four goals and Kristi Baur and Ashley Parks scored three goals each against Macalester. Ashley Henderson, Jocelyn Hinkle and Hulsebus scored three goals against Utica.

Grove City visits Virginia Military Institute at 4:30 p.m. today.
