Goalie Hildebrand named All-American
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Center Township resident and Michigan State University junior goaltender Jake Hildebrand has been named first team All-American this season.
Hildebrand was named first team by the CCM/American Hockey Coaches Association.
He led the Big Ten with a .830 save percentage, 2.18 goals against average and six shutouts. He had a 1.94 GAA and .940 save percentage in Big Ten play.
Hildebrand played in all 35 Spartan games this season and allowed two or fewer goals in 20 of them. Since Jan. 1, his .947 save percentage led the nation.
Karns City lifters place in meet
A number of Karns City High School weightlifters placed in The Sons of Thunder Powerlifting’s Ironman Teen Bench Press & Deadlift Sunday:
Blaine Wilson, 15, won the bench press and deadlift in the 165-pound class with lifts of 290 and 435 pounds respectively.
Nathan Barnhart, 18, won the 220-pound deadlift class with a lift of 515 pounds.
Neal Barnhart, 17, won the 198 deadlift class with a lift of 480.
Collin Dunmyre, 17, won the bench press and deadlift at 148 with lifts of 245 and 400, respectively.
Maverick Kelsea, 18, placed third at 220 with a lift of 450.
Ryan Sacco, 18, won the 275 bench press class with a lift of 300.
Seth Silverio, 16, placed second in the 148 bench press with a lift of 195.
