[naviga:h3]Bullet hits off-duty officer’s vehicle[/naviga:h3]
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police say an off-duty officer’s vehicle was hit by a bullet as she was driving home, but still in uniform, after her shift.
Police aren’t identifying the officer, but say she wasn’t injured in the shooting about 2:35 a.m. Thursday on Browns Hill Road.
The officer passed a red or maroon vehicle, possibly a Ford Mustang, which she saw pull into a Speedway gas station parking lot before passing a newer silver-four door sedan with tinted windows. The officer heard a gunshot and stopped to examine her vehicle and found a bullet hole in the rear passenger door.
Police don’t know whether the shot came from one of the two vehicles the officer passed or from some other place.

ARONA — The driver of a tanker truck has been rescued after driving off the Pennsylvania Turnpike and crashing over a hillside.
State police have yet to release the name of the man who was hauling water in the truck when it left the westbound lanes of the toll highway between the Irwin and New Stanton exits. That happened about 9:30 a.m. Thursday near Arona.
Westmoreland County emergency officials say the driver wasn’t badly hurt and was conscious when workers freed him from the rig about 30 minutes later. They used all-terrain vehicles to reach the crashed truck and to bring the driver to an ambulance. He was taken to an unspecified hospital.
