Melvin D. Jack

Melvin D. Jack, 83, of Butler, passed away on Sunday, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by family.

He was born Feb. 17, 1935 in West Winfield to the late Eugene Jack and the late Margaret Goldinger Jack.

Melvin was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served as a sergeant during the Korean War.

He then worked for Penn Dixie Cement, Halsteadt Ind., in the dietary department of VA Butler Health Care, and Ponderosa Steak House.

Melvin was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he attended God's Country.

He is survived by his daughter, Tamara (Lenny) Gamble of Butler, with whom he made his home; two grandsons, Derek (Beth) Weiland and Ryan (Casey) Stover; four great-granddaughters, Bindi and Willow Weiland, and Gabby and Paisley Stover; two brothers, Homer Jack of Evans City, and Melton (Wilma) Jack of Tenn.; two sisters, Doris Huffman of Mars, and Mabel (Reuben) Beck of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Jack; and two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Jack and Catherine Jack.

JACK — Friends of Melvin D. Jack, who died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018 will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, PA.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Janz of First United Methodist Church officiating.Burial will take place at Greenlawn Burial Estates.Bantam Marine Corps.
