SRU indoor track claims 4 events

The Slippery Rock University women’s indoor track and field team captured four events at the West Virginia University Invitational on Saturday.

Butler High graduate Jasmine Bailey teamed with Lexie Nowakowski, Emily Moroco and London Parris to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:25.16.

Jenny Picot also won on the track, taking the 3,000-meter run in 10:49.92.

Also included in the winners was Brittany Christiansen, who won the weight throw with an effort of 15.79 meters.

Mariah Burns topped the field in the long jump at 5.4 meters.

In the men’s competition, Seneca Valley product Hunter Williams placed first in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:06.92. Williams then ran a leg of the winning 4x400 relay (3:30.28), which also included Jacob VanHouten, Logan Mooney and Trevor Foley.

Tyler Melius captured the mile run with a time of 4:24.18.

Jordan Pacheco won the pole vault with a height of 4.7 meters.

Men’s BasketballPenn Highlands 95, Butler County Community College 86 — The Pioneers (1-14) were down by 27 points and their second-half comeback fell short.Cody West and Michael Rummel paced BC3 with 20 points each while Tyler Copeland had 19 points and 11 rebounds.Shae Stobert dished out six assists.

Women’s BasketballButler County Community College 69, CCAC-South 51 — Ashley Brehm sparked this road victory with 21 points and seven assists.Jenn Barry added 19 points and seven assists, Shelby Johnston 14 points and eight rebounds and Kyleigh Custer 11 points and seven boards.The Pioneers improved to 2-12 overall with the win.
