SLIPPERY ROCK — The 11th Kaleidoscope Arts Festival is being held through April 29 on the Slippery Rock University campus.
Children's Day will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and feature a family-oriented celebration of music, dance, arts and crafts, balloons and food.
Performing will be the Slippery Rock Elementary School Dancers and guest artist Hal Walker, who will conduct a free group harmonica lesson at 2 p.m. The lesson is free, but participants need to have a 10-hole harmonica in the key of C, which can be taken along or purchased there for $5.
The festival schedule includes “Bob Dylan and the Poetry of the Blues: An Evening with Michael Gray” at 7:30 p.m. today in Swope Music Hall, playwriting competition winners as part of the SRU theater department's Brave New Plays from Friday through April 26 in Miller Auditorium, and Taiko Drums performance at 7:30 p.m. April 28 in Swope Music Hall.

SAXONBURG — The Saxonburg Artists Cooperative will present the third annual Invitational High School Senior Art Exhibit from May 5 through June 2 at its gallery at 215 W. CHICORA — The Chicora Medical Center's third annual “Rockin' the Rose” Concert Series kicks off May 31 with Chicora's own rock band Straight Shooters.The music starts at 7 p.m. outdoors at the facility at 160 Medical Center Drive.Take chairs or blankets, and the lawn seating is on a first come, first served basis. HARMONY — The Slippery Rock University Jazz Band will provide the music for the Harmony Business Association's Derby Day from 4 to 6:30 p.m. May 5 in the Harmony Museum's Stewart Hall, 218 Main St.The event will include televised coverage of the Kentucky Derby, a buffet and entertainment.There will also be derby-themed games, a scavenger hunt and an auction.Those attending are invited to wear a derby hat, or rent one at the event.
