John R. Malis, 77, of Cabot passed away Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born on Jan. 28, 1937, in Butler Township, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Metrick) Malis.

John was a 1955 graduate of Butler High School.

He retired in 1995 from Armco Steel, where he was a crane operator in the melt shop.

He was a member of the National Guard, the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Moose. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and wrestling.

Surviving are his loving children, Cory J. Malis of Butler, Kim R. Malis of Cabot and Kelly J. Walker of Indiana; his grandchildren, Lindsey (Justin) Stewart and Zachary Walker; his great-grandson, Kohen Stewart, and his sister, Janet Valensky of Butler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Malis.
