Gladys R. (Stamm) Sankey

Gladys R. (Stamm) Sankey, 85, of Grove City passed away Thursday following an extended illness.

Gladys was born July 12, 1933, in Franklin Township, to Howard L. and Hazel M. (McCall) Stamm.

She married Lewis “Nick” Sankey, Jr. on Oct. 21, 1954. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2001.

Gladys was raised in the Baptist faith.

She graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1951.

Gladys was a homemaker and retired from Grove City College where she was a cook in MAP dining hall for 16 years.

She is survived by four children, Patricia L. Mace and her husband, Dorrin, of Mercer, Gerald L. and his wife, Dorry, of Grove City, Richard L. and his wife, Cindy, of Plain Grove and David L. and Corrine Ross, of New Wilmington; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Stamm of Grove City and Linda Shuck and her husband, Tim, of Ames, Iowa; and a brother, Wayne L. Stamm and his wife, Sue, of Grove City.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Martha Lynn Sankey; and her brother, John H. Stamm.

SANKEY — Friends of Gladys R. Sankey, who died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.Interment will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.Memorial contributions may be given to North Liberty Presbyterian Church.
