Dorcas E. McCabe

Dorcas E. McCabe, 96, of Butler passed away on April 9, 2021, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Washington, Pa.

She was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Uniontown, and was the daughter of the late Howard Gans Brooks and the late Bertha (Casber) Brooks.

Dorcas went to Point Marion High School.

She worked as a receptionist/telephone operator for Castle Rubber Co. in East Butler.

Dorcas belonged to a bridge club, Elks Auxiliary, and served on the board of directors of the Butler Little Theatre, where she also volunteered.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, golfing and traveling.

Dorcas was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Saundra McCabe Austin of Butler; three grandchildren, Shane McCabe of Florida, Monica (Phil) Halper of London, England, and Daniel (Laura) Clements of Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Lynley; three sisters-in-law, Gretchen McCabe of Gibsonia, Linda McCabe of Atlanta, Ga., and Jean Brooks of Point Marion, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Joseph McCabe, whom she married on Dec. 10, 1946, and who passed away in 1993; one son, Patrick McCabe; two brothers, Charles and Arthur Brooks; and one sister, Edith Mae Brooks.

MCCABE — Friends of Dorcas E. McCabe, who died Friday, April 9, 2021, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler.

Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
