Man faces jail on immigration charges
PITTSBURGH — An illegal immigrant from Mexico who was apprehended in Butler this summer has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh.
Mauro Cantera-Camacho, 43, was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury, on a single charge of re-entry of removed alien, according to federal prosecutors in Pittsburgh.
According to the indictment, Cantera-Camacho had been deported on Dec. 14, 1999, and was arrested on May 7 this year in Butler, without having applied for or received permission to re-enter the country from the Department of Homeland Security.
Prosecutors say he faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison, one year of supervised release and a fine of $250,000 or both.
