A Butler man, wanted by city police after allegedly failing to notify state police in regards to his sex offender registration conditions, was arrested in the city on Friday.

Danny Lee Malone Jr., 24, was wanted on three felony violations of Megan's Law, including felony charges of failing to provide accurate information, failing to register with state police and failing to verify his address, after police said he failed to inform state police that he moved from the home where he was recently living in Butler.

The investigation began May 22, when state police contacted city police, with the belief that Malone was no longer living at an apartment on the 700 block of South Main Street, where he had registered with authorities.

Malone is a designated Tier 1 sex offender, which means he must update his personal information with state police annually and within three days of moving or changing a job, vehicle or a school as well as when traveling to another state for more than a week. Additionally, his contact with children is restricted.

Malone was arraigned this week before Magisterial District Judge William Fullerton, and held in Butler County Prison on $25,000 cash bail.

Malone was placed on the Megan's Law registry in February 2017, court records showed, following a felony sex crime conviction on Oct. 3, 2016, in Venango County.
