Hattie Harmon

Hattie (Marbell) Harmon, 93, of Prospect peacefully passed away Monday, July 5, 2021, at her daughter’s residence.

Born Dec. 5, 1927. in Aliquippa, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Viola Goettel Marbell.

She was a faithful member of the Prospect community and the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, where she was a deacon for over 30 years, a member of the Sunday Morning Fellowship Class, a member of the Women of the Bible Study and a volunteer coordinator for Coffee Hour after weekly church. She was a member of TAN, Thursday At Noon, Bible study, and Prospect Women’s Club, where she served as president many times over the years. She also served on the Prospect Borough election board for many years.

Earlier in life, she was in the former Prospect Firemen’s Women’s Auxiliary Club, a Prospect Girl Scout leader, and the Butler County Women’s Extension Club. In the 1950s, she served as secretary of the Prospect school board.

Hattie enjoyed golfing. She was a past member and treasurer of 11 years of the Lake Arthur Ladies League on Wednesday mornings, and the Friday evening Couple’s Golf League at Stoughton’s.

Her hobbies were needlework, golfing, wintering in Florida, reading, baking, cooking, and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (David) Gallagher of Prospect; four grandchildren, Lynn (Donald) Peters of Slippery Rock, Robert (Shannon) Stiteler of Ellwood City, Michelle (Bill) Powell of Ellwood City and Chad (Crystal) Gallagher of Butler; 10 great-grandchildren, Gregory Baker, Zachariah (Amee) Baker, Victoria Allen, Kaitlyn Wright, Tyler Powell, Lily Gallagher, Gracie Gallagher, Shawn Farabaugh, Dominic Farabaugh and Adrianna Farabaugh; four great-great-grandchildren, Sebastian Baker, Gwendolynn Baker, Declan Cramer and Austin Shorts; one sister, Loretta McIntyre of Granger, Ind., and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Jefferson Harmon, whom she married April 26, 1947, and who died May 21, 2008; her daughter, Wendy Stiteler; two brothers, Arthur Marbell and Daniel Marbell; and her sister, Marie Lachowski.

The family would like to thank everyone at the VNA Butler home care and hospice for their wonderful care given and for all the cards, phone calls, and prayers during Mom’s illness.

Harmon — Visitation for Hattie (Marbell) Harmon, who died Monday, July 5, 2021, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 387 Main St., Prospect.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect with Dave Fox, officiating

Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Butler.
