Elizabeth Herold
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Thompson Herold, 80, of Prospect, peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 6, 2021, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side following an illness.
Born June 27, 1940, in Slippery Rock, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Amy McConnell Thompson.
She was a faithful member of The Presbyterian Church of Prospect, where she attended Sunday school classes, Bible studies and church dinners. She was a former deacon, volunteered at Bible schools, and started the Cup of Friendship Women’s Fellowship Group.
She had many friends, and enjoyed going to the Mount Chestnut Senior Center.
Beginning in the 1990s, she worked for 11 years at the U.S. Post Office in Prospect as the janitor.
In her younger years along with her husband, she enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling by airplane, and then traveling on many adventures in their motorhome.
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafts, gardening and tending to her beautiful flower beds.
She always said, “Her greatest blessing was knowing the Lord has been with her, her entire life, no matter where she had been and He will see her home to be with Him.”
She is survived by her children, Charlene (John) Eckert of Butler, and Jeffrey (Dana) Herold of Slippery Rock; four grandchildren, Dustin (Kara) Eckert, Amanda (Matthew) Scott, Mackenzie Herold and Max Herold; four great-grandchildren, Sierra Eckert, Dustin (Crystal) Eckert, Greyson Scott and Caleb Clarence Eckert; one great-great-granddaughter, Briella Premdas; her stepgreat-great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Nick; her sisters, Mary Wilson and Erma (Robert) McKnight; and her brother, James (Diane) Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Herold, whom she married June 28, 1958, and who passed away Oct. 12, 2011; her grandson, John Eckert Jr.; her sister, Eleanor Thompson; her sister-in-law, Veva Martsolf; and her brothers-in law, Tom, Roy and John Herold.
HEROLD — Visitation for Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Thompson Herold, who died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 387 Main St., Prospect.
COVID-19 restrictions will be in place.
Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at The Presbyterian Church of Prospect, 115 Church St., with the Rev. Larry Maley and the Rev. Ron Schermerhorn co-officiating.
Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect.
