Mark McKean
Mark Lee McKean, 50, of Butler, passed away from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident on Wednesday evening, Feb. 16, 2022.
Born Feb. 6, 1972, he was the son of Betty J. Fisher McKean and the late Kenneth E. McKean.
He was a 1990 graduate of Butler High School and a 1995 graduate of Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Mark began his career in the field of social work before becoming a self-employed contractor.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler.
Mark loved hunting, fishing and golfing, and enjoyed doing these activities with his friends every chance he got. He shared the love of the outdoors with both of his kids. Dylan loves to hunt and Lauren loves to fish. Mark also loved snow skiing and camping, and has enjoyed these activities practically his whole life.
Mark truly enjoyed supporting both of his kids in their various activities and sports, including Butler High School Rifle Team. Also, watching “Jeopardy” was an activity that the kids and Mark did nearly every night after dinner.
Family was important to Mark. So much fun was had every Christmas Eve when everyone got together. Mark had a knack for making gingerbread houses, though he always cheated to win.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Ness McKean of Butler; his children, Dylan McKean and Lauren McKean; his mother, BJ McKean of Butler; his sisters, Kelee (Shawn) Garmong of Findlay, Ohio, and Kasey (Jason) Lumley of Prospect; his four nieces and nephews, Kennedy Garmong, Beck Garmong, Kirsten Hockenberry and Lelynd Lumley; and his stepmother, Denise (Gary Neely) McKean of Evans City.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly Sue McKean.
MCKEAN — Visitation for Mark Lee McKean, who died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 387 Main St., Prospect.
Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Janz, his church pastor will officiate.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.
