Steven P. Morgan, 51, of Amelia Island, Fla., formerly of Butler, passed away Friday.

Born on Sept. 4, 1963, in Miami Beach, Fla., he was a son of Allen E. Morgan and Maxine Schriner Gurner.

He was employed as a transmission lineman distributor for the C.W. Wright Construction Co. in Chester, Va. Previously, he was employed as a transmission line worker for West Penn Power-First Energy. He was employed as a line supervisor for Florida Public Utility.

He was a graduate of Knoch High School and Butler County Vo-Tech. Following his graduation from The New Castle School of Trades, he served a five-year apprenticeship with West Penn Power. He completed courses in cyber security training through First Energy. He earned a certificate from California State University Sacramento, College of Engineering and Computer Science.

He was certified in first aid and CPR and certified in construction wiring at Haverfield International Inc. He carried a crane operator license. He received the President Safety Excellent Award through OSHA and a Certificate of Completion from YASKAWA Electric America, Inc. He was with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary of Boating and Seamanship.

Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Byers Morgan of Florida; his mother, Maxine (Michael) Gurner of Butler; his two sisters, Nena (Daniel) Cuffin and Nanette (Brian) Rau, both of Butler, and his numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Morgan — The friends of Steven P. Morgan, who passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E.
