PITTSBURGH — The City of Pittsburgh will honor former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Chuck Noll by naming a road in his honor near Heinz Field.

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl was to join Steelers chairman emeritus and U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Dan Rooney and his son, Steelers president Art Rooney II, at a ceremony today to name the road “Chuck Noll Way.” Mel Blount and Andy Russell, Hall of Fame players on the Steelers teams Noll coached to Super Bowl wins from 1975 to 1980, also will attend.

Noll will not be at the ceremony because of unspecified health issues.

The city has honored other sports figures by renaming roads, including Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer Bill Mazeroski, Steelers founder Art Rooney, and Pitt running back Tony Dorsett.
