Man found guilty in death of infant
A jury has found a Pittsburgh man guilty of third-degree murder in the death of a 5-month-old girl.
Kenneth Reeves, of Mount Washington, has also been found guilty of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors were seeking a first-degree murder conviction for the 31-year-old.
Reeves was charged in the December 2014 death of Kamero Newton, whose family called Kami. Prosecutors say Reeves had been dating the girl’s mother for a few months. Doctors testified during trial the infant died from severe head injuries.
Reeves is facing a maximum of 40 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 28.
Reeves’ conviction violates the terms of probation he has been serving after pleading guilty to assaulting a different ex-girlfriend’s 4-year-old son.
