PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing Bank of America claiming one of its contractors trashed her house and took her parrot while wrongly repossessing her home.

Angela Iannelli, 46, of Allison Park filed suit against Bank of America Monday in Allegheny County. She claims her mortgage payments were on time when one of the banking giant's contractors damaged furniture, took her pet parrot Luke and padlocked her door in October.

The suit accuses Bank of America and the contractor, Snyder Property Services, of trespass and unfair business practices. Iannelli's suit says she eventually regained possession of the bird after repeated phone calls to the bank. A Bank of America spokeswoman declined to comment. The suit seeks unspecified damages.

PITTSBURGH — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is closing a grade school that opened 100 years ago.St. Athanasius Catholic School in West View had just 79 students when the school year began in August. The school offers kindergarten through eighth grade, plus preschool. The closure was announced Sunday and confirmed Monday.Seven years ago, the school had 150 students and a per-pupil cost of nearly $3,900. Projected enrollment for next year is fewer than 80 students with a cost of $7,600 and a deficit of $125,000. The diocese decided to close the school instead of imposing a "prohibitive" tuition increase.
