County continues to post low unemployment numbers
Butler County's unemployment rate was lower in August than all six other counties in the Pittsburgh area, according to new figures released Tuesday.
In Butler County, the August unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry's Center for Workforce Information and Analysis reports. The rate was unchanged from July.
Butler County had 97,100 people in its labor force in August, of which 3,600 were unemployed, according to the center's estimates.
Sandra Hoffman, an analyst for the center, said the particulars of why Butler County might be performing better than other counties in the area is a deeper subject than they can speculate on, but that August's numbers shouldn't surprise anyone.
