Middlesex Twp. applying for county grant to support playground project
Middlesex Township will apply for $10,000 in grant funding from the annual Butler County Parks Renovation Program to support the playground construction project at the Middlesex Township Community Park.
Township supervisors approved the grant application at a meeting Wednesday night.
The funds will be used as part of a local cash match required for the larger grant received by the township for the planned playground, a $204,500 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
“Our grant was for $204,500, and we are responsible for a 50% cash match, through in-kind work or cash,” township manager Adam Hartwig said. The township should hear back about the county grant in March or April, he added.
The current construction timeline projects that the Middlesex Township Community Park playground will be finished by June, Hartwig said.
“The trail should be paved by April or May, once the weather breaks,” he said. “The pavilion should probably be in in the summer as well.”
