Orville Nicholas

Orville L. “Nick” Nicholas, 92, of Butler, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Butler VA Community Living Center.

Born Feb. 5, 1929, in Butler, he was the son of Wilbert H. Nicholas and Matilda Gunst Nicholas.

He was a 1947 graduate of Butler High School. Also was a graduate of Butler Business College and Penn State University.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was the personal secretary to Maj. Gen. Robert S. Dulaney, commanding general of the 3rd Infantry Division in Korea.In his early years, he was active in church having served as an elder, deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He also had been a volunteer at one of the food cupboards for many years.He had been a salesman for more than 40 years for several different firms covering Western Pennsylvania. He retired from selling IBM equipment for a Monroeville office. He enjoyed hunting and hiking and was an avid reader.Surviving are his wife, Edna Jolly Laidlaw Nicholas of Butler; his children, Brenda Kramer of Zelienople and Dwayne Nicholas of Atoka, Tenn.; his stepchildren, Sharon Hall, Larry Laidlaw, Dixie Laidlaw, Michelle Moser and Jody Timko; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.Nicholas — Friends of Orville L. “Nick” Nicholas, who died Saturday, April 24, 2021, will be received from 12 to 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021, at Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
