James R. Monteleone
James R. Monteleone, 89, of Butler died Sunday evening at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born Feb. 25, 1929, in Butler, he was a son of the late Dominic Monteleone and Antoinette (Zaccari) Monteleone.
He was a 1947 graduate of Butler High School and retired in 1988 from the silicon department of Armco Steel Plant, following 38 years.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
He was a member of the Italian Club, was active in the Butler Cubs ASA, where he played on the semi-pro football team. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his two sons, James R. (Joanna) Monteleone Jr. of Cranberry Township, and David L. (Debra) Monteleone of Butler; five grandchildren, David, Nick, Michael and Alex Monteleone, and Jessie (Mark) Sanford; two great-granddaughters, Jordan and Emerson Monteleone; and three brothers, Joseph (Josephine) Monteleone, Peppy (Paula) Monteleone and Art (Peggy) Monteleone, all of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rena M. (Spinetti) Monteleone, whom he married Sept. 12, 1953, and who died Jan. 1, 2017.
