JoLynn Clouse, principal of Saint Wendelin School, was one of seven educators at Catholic schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh who received the 2021 Golden Apple Award.

The award recognizes their excellent performance in the classroom, church and community. Each educator will receive a monetary prize, supported by the Donahue Family Foundation.

Jade's Dog Park in Alameda Park is closed until July 23 after Butler County Parks and Recreation got word of a case of kennel cough Wednesday.A department staff member said the staff closes the dog park for cleaning when a case is reported. The staff member also said maintenance will be working on the park while it is closed. The park is normally open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily.

U.S. Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson, R-15th, cosponsored the Helping Ensure Access to Local TeleHealth, or the HEALTH Act, which codifies Medicare reimbursement for telehealth services rendered by community health centers and rural health clinics.The bill also allows these health facilities to continue to use audio-only telehealth visits for patients who do not have access to quality broadband.The HEALTH Act builds upon previously enacted provisions in the COVID-19 relief packages and provides access to vital health care services to more seniors, regardless of their geographic location.

Preston's Pearl, the new pontoon tour boat at Moraine State Park, is offering public weekend cruises on Lake Arthur.Public cruises are available at 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, according to Moraine Preservation Fund's website.Admission costs $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and military personnel, and $6 for children ages 3 to 12.Tickets and more information are available by calling the Owlet Gift Shop at 724-368-9185.

The Jehovah's Witnesses, breaking a century-old tradition, has moved its annual in-person event to a virtual format for the second time in as many years, canceling nearly 6,000 conventions in 240 lands.In 2020, the pandemic unexpectedly interrupted the tradition moving the international religious organization to cancel in-person conventions throughout the world and launch a global virtual event.“Powerful by Faith!” is the theme of the 2021 global event, which will be delivered in more than 500 languages to households throughout the globe over six weekends during July and August 2021, uniting some 15 million to 20 million people in 240 countries.To attend the event, visit www.jw.org on the web or JW Broadcasting on the free JW Libraryapp. The program is free and accessible to all.For more information, contact Jehovah's Witnesses United States at 718- 560-5600 or pid@jw.org.

The East Brady Area Riverfest has rescheduled its Kids' Scavenger Hunt and Anything That Floats Race events due to inclement weather.The rest of the festival activities are still Saturday at 309 Water St. in East Brady by the Allegheny River with food, vendors, live music, contests and other attractions.The two events are postponed until Sept. 4.
