Pennsylvania payrolls recover jobs lost in recession

HARRISBURG — Payrolls in Pennsylvania have hit a record high, recovering all of the jobs lost in the recession.

The state Department of Labor and Industry said today that payrolls grew by about 13,000 in February, a record high at nearly 5.83 million. The state has added close to 50,000 jobs in the past seven months.

Pennsylvania lost more than 250,000 jobs in the recession and dipped below 5.6 million jobs in 2010 after hitting a prerecession peak in 2008.
