Bike struck by vehicle on Litman Road

BUTLER TWP — A woman was transported to Butler Hospital after a vehicle collided with her bicycle this morning.

The young woman, whose name wasn't immediately known, was traveling eastbound alongside Litman Road at 8:27 a.m. when a white Kia Sportage traveling westbound made a right turn into the Butler Area Sewer Authority, 100 Litman Road, striking the biker.

“I didn't see her,” Bruce Groom, who was driving the Kia Sportage. “She was going down the hill... I was coming up the hill.”

The woman had several cuts, scrapes and a lump on her forehead. Still, she was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Sgt. Steve Hensel of the Butler Township Police said it seemed as if the woman, her bike or something else struck the windshield of the vehicle, as the glass was shattered.

The purple-pink Roadmaster bike, however, showed few signs of damage.

Groom, a Butler Area Sewer Authority employee, was arriving later than usual for work, as he had a doctor's appointment.

Traffic wasn't held up in either direction.
