BC3 grad to attend Wall Street close

A Butler County Community College graduate will be at the New York Stock Exchange when its closing bell rings Thursday.

Connie Butler, 37, of Mars will help her company, AIG, celebrate its 100th anniversary when the bell rings at 4 p.m.

Butler earned an associate degree in business management from BC3 in 2002 and is district vice president at AIG Retirement Services in Pittsburgh, where she had been employed for 16 years.

“A very limited amount of people get to have an opportunity like this,” said Butler, a 2000 graduate of Butler Area Senior High School. “It is something that had been on my bucket list that I really wanted to do.”

That BC3 may be represented at the New York Stock Exchange is significant, said Sherri Mack, BC3's interim dean of business.

“I am just so impressed that a graduate of ours has worked herself into a position to be recognized,” Mack said. “It is such an honor for any company when they are there.”

Dean Pikoulas, owner of Capitol Cleaners in Butler and Connie's father, said her BC3 degree made this possible.

“The cool thing is, the degree from BC3 gave her the ability to have a successful career,” he said.
