Snow in forecast for Butler County, surrounding areas
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh is predicting a white Christmas for Butler County, though people traveling north of the county might encounter harsh driving conditions.
The weather service issued a winter weather advisory from 7 p.m. today until 12 p.m. Christmas for Venango and Mercer counties. Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches and wind gusts of up to 35 mph are expected in those counties, which could create slippery road conditions and poor visibility for drivers.
A weather advisory is also in place for Clarion County, which is expected to get 2 to 4 inches by 9 a.m. tomorrow.
Butler is expected to get 1 to 3 inches of snow overnight and another half-inch is possible on Christmas, according to the weather service.
