Esther L. Peth
Esther L. Peth, 78, of Emlenton passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Clarview Nursing Home in Sligo.
Esther was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Saxonburg. She was the daughter of Seibert and Esther Smyers Eckel. She was a 1955 graduate of Mars High School. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Lamartine.
Esther was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and the company of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Peth was married Aug. 11, 1962, in Slippery Rock Township, to Gerald A. Peth. Mr. Peth preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2008.
Surviving is one son, Richard “Ricky” A. Peth of Shippenville; one daughter, Tammy L. McGarvey and her husband, Arthur “Buddy,” of Emlenton; two grandchildren, Dani Wade and her husband, Devon, and James “Jimmy” McGarvey, all of Emlenton; four sisters, Evelyn Longdon, Delores Hickey, Kathy Marsh and Marie Riggs; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and one sister-in-law.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son; one brother, Seibert “Buzz” Eckel; and two sisters, Mildred “Bibs” Stiffy and Alice Stirling.
PETH — Friends of Esther L. Peth, who died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hile Funeral Home, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Lamartine, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
