Woman accused of threats, burglary, drunkenness
A Kaufman Drive woman was arrested over the weekend after allegedly breaking into her neighbor's apartment, destroying the victim's property and then threatening the woman with a knife.
Angela Marie Crawford, 33, of Butler was charged Friday with felony burglary, misdemeanor terroristic threats, misdemeanor criminal mischief and public drunkenness. She remains in Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.
According to charging documents filed by Butler City Police, authorities were called to the Kaufman Drive neighborhood just before 8 a.m. Friday. A neighbor reported Crawford was outside threatening to kill another woman with a knife.
Upon arrival, Crawford allegedly admitted to investigators that she had just snorted two lines of cocaine, and told them the fight with her neighbor stemmed from an alleged theft of money and drugs.
Crawford told police the woman came into her residence while she wasn't there and stole $300 cash and cocaine.
“Crawford stated she was not home when her neighbor came inside, but she claimed her neighbor left a bottle and a can of beer on her counter,” investigators noted in the affidavit.
Another neighbor allegedly told police she watched from her window as Crawford destroyed the victim's property before reaching into her purse, taking out a credit card and using it to break into the victim's apartment. Charging documents allege Crawford continued destroying property inside the victim's residence.
Charging documents also report this same neighbor told authorities Crawford's daughter came over to her residence and asked her to call her grandmother while the incident was taking place. The neighbor alleged that the girl told her that her grandmother brought her to the apartment to get ready for school and that Crawford was drinking a beer and got angry for some reason before going over to the victim's residence.
“There were dishes, decorations and multiple other personal belongings, which were thrown throughout the living room and kitchen,” according to the affidavit.
The neighbor who reported the incident to authorities also contacted the victim, whom she knew wasn't home, and told the woman she needed to return to her apartment. The victim told police she confronted Crawford when she came home and found her apartment trashed. The woman allegedly further told investigators that Crawford attacked her.
The victim said she defended herself and went back to her apartment, at which point Crawford allegedly came outside with the knife and threatened her.
