Thelma T. Leyland, 90, of Passavant Retirement Community, formerly of Troy Hill, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward “Red” Leyland, and the loving mother of Kathy Morgan (Joe Ruffing), Peg (Ron) Haefele, Nancy Mravintz, Terri Washington (Jim Madden), Ed (Mindy) Leyland and Patrick (Sue) Leyland.

She was the dear grandmother of Erin Rice, Jim Morgan, Kelly Gualtieri, Chad Haefele, Matt, Adam and Andy Mravintz, Rachel Stiteler, Ben and Joe Washington, Shane, Alivia, Brianna Leyland, and Henry Leyland.

She is also survived by 11½ great-grandchildren.

She was the dear sister of Peggy Stanton and the late Lois Onorato, and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was the mother-in-law of the late Jim Morgan.

Mom was a kind, compassionate, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, and was a beacon of love to all who knew her. Mom’s life was a testament to her faith and love of family.

LEYLAND — Family and friends of Thelma T. Leyland, who died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at HUGHES FUNERAL HOME, 1501 Lowrie St., Troy Hill, Pittsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Most Holy Name Church, Troy Hill.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, or St. Anthony Chapel, 1700 Harpster St., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
