Bridge open for weekend; upgrades start Monday

The westbound lanes on the bridge on Route 422 in Butler Township will be open until Monday, when the state Department of Transportation will restrict traffic to one lane to complete safety upgrades.

PennDOT originally announced traffic in the westbound lanes on the bridge would be restricted June 10.

Road closures for Butler Road Race announced

Roads to be closed during the Butler Road Race June 19 have been announced.

The out-and-back race is presented by the Butler County Family YMCA and the Butler Health System and starts at 8 a.m. at Diamond Park on Main Street.

Runners then head down to and turn onto West Penn Street and cross Mercer Street and continue with a turnaround point in Alameda Park.

Roads may be closed to traffic anytime from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The race course will be patrolled by local CB Rangers and city police, with multiple emergency response vehicles placed along the course.
