Local group prays for police safety

(From left) Det. Nate Shulik, Lt. Anthony Fatta and Lt. Chad Rensel bow their heads in prayer during Church Without Walls' blessing of the Butler City Police Department on Wednesday.

Church Without Walls went to the Butler City Police Department on Wednesday to thank the officers and pray for them.

“This was just one of those things that we thought would be helpful to the police, just to let them know that we're supporting them,” said Lisa Gill, a member of Church Without Walls.

Church Without Walls is a collective of several churches in and around Butler that meets monthly to pray and share information about goals and events.

Members of the group circled around with police officers in the station and prayed for the safety of the officers. They also gave thanks for them.

“I hear the sirens constantly when I'm in my office,” Gill told the officers. “I know you guys are busy nonstop, so we just wanted to say thank you for the sacrifice that you make.”

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
