The Art Center, 344 S. Main St., is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Associated Artists of Butler County with "Art Through the Ages: A Retrospective" exhibit through Nov. 6. The exhibit features about 200 pieces of art collected from former AABC members dating as far back as the 1930s. The group held its first free art exhibit in December 1934. In the Mezzanine Gallery, Aryl Bashline is hosting a display of artwork by her late father, Jimmy Bashline, who was known for his miniature, hand carved "Jay Bee Circus" now on display at the Butler County Heritage Center. In the Members Gallery, Bruce MacDonald of Slippery Rock is displaying a wide variety of art by his late wife, Jackie Uytenbogaart, the AABC's first executive director. Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., houses a recently renovated netsuke exhibit, as well as hundreds of pieces of ancient and contemporary Asian art and Meissen porcelain. Regular museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays; closed Mondays and holidays. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8; children must be accompanied by an adult. Tours are led by trained docents and are available with advance notice. The museum also has a gift shop specializing in gifts and decorative art objects relating to China and Japan.
