Karns City holds on for 7-6 victory
A seven-run bottom of the fourth inning proved just enough for Karns City in a 7-6 Butler County legion baseball victory over West Sunbury in Fairview Township Tuesday evening.
Stephen O’Donnell, Nolan Riley and Jace Ebbitt each singled twice in the victory while Reice Saylor picked up the pitching win after striking out two and walking three in four innings for Karns City (2-2).
Andrew Dulya hit a three-run home run for West Sunbury (5-3) and Gage Neal had two hits.
The loss was charged to Hunter Fitzingo, who struck out four and walked one in three-plus innings of work.
Saxonburg 2, Cranberry Township 1 — Dylan Swarmer’s solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie as Saxonburg (7-0) remained undefeated.
Logan Hickey pitched three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. He also scored his team’s first run in the fourth frame when he singled, stole second and third and came home on James Flemm’s sacrifice fly.
Saxonburg starter Brandon Kowalski worked out of a pair of bases-loaded jams in his four innings on the mound.
Tony Clinefelter singled and doubled for Cranberry Township, Gordon Spotts singled twice and Tom Cleary doubled.
