Nautical Nature pontoon boat at Moraine State Park operates cruises on Lake Arthur at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from McDanel’s Launch on the North Shore. Call 724-368-9185. The cruises end with the Oct. 27 Halloween cruise. Reservations are recommended.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host a National Public Lands Day volunteer event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants must register by contacting the center at 724-794-6011.

McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, hosts the Heritage Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. A fall foliage hike is planned for 4 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

September Moonrise Star Party, sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh, begins at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting, at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park near Russellton. Call 724-224-2510.
