Galen Wayne Albert II, 73, of Prospect passed away Tuesday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born on March 5, 1941, in Butler, he was the son of the late Galen Wayne and June Lois Boring Albert.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect.

He retired after 40 years from the former Butler ARMCO Steel plant, where he worked as a machinist in the maintenance shop and later worked in the tool room.

Galen was one of the founding members and a past president of the Prospect Boys and Girls Club. He enjoyed coaching baseball and then became a baseball umpire.

He was one of the founding members of the Prospect Area Preservation Society, where he enjoyed volunteering at the annual Rube's Run 5K Race fundraiser.

Galen cherished spending time with his loving grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, backpacking and hiking.

He was a member of the Oakview Golf Club and the former ARMCO Country Club.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Carol Wilson Albert, who he married on Oct. 17, 1982; his children, Kurt (Shelley) Albert of Butler, Lisa Jones of Prospect, Matthew (Tracy) Albert of Parker, Annett (Richard) Koch of Prospect and Gary Oakman of Girard, Ohio; his grandchildren, Joshua Albert, Madeline Albert, Caitlin Jones, Emily Jones, Cale Jones, Samantha Albert, Chaz (Amanda) Smith, Brianna Eiler, Larissa Koch and Nick Koch; his two sisters, Diane (Dave) Miller of Karns City and Susan Penna of Emlenton; his dog, Baby; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two infant children, Galen Lance and Linda Diane, and his brother, Charles Albert.

Albert— The family and friends of Galen Wayne Albert II, who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, will be received from 1 p.m. to services at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect, with the Rev. Gary Brown, his church pastor, officiating. Interment in Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect, will be private.Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, P.O.
