Harold “Pete” Wayne Wilson

Harold “Pete” Wayne Wilson, 91, of Portersville passed away Tuesday afternoon at Jameson Care Center, New Castle.

Harold was born May 11, 1925, in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. He was the son of the late Merle Ezekiel and Gertrude Alice Harlan Wilson. Fifty eight years ago, he married his beloved wife, Thelma Jane Bickel Wilson, who survives at home.

Harold was a 1944 graduate of Princeton High School and Penn State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture husbandry in 1950. He was a member of the Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and former treasurer. Harold was a member of the 4-H; Senior Extension Club; Dairy Herd Improvement Association, where he earned numerous awards in dairy production; the Laurel Travel Club; Holstein Association; Pennsylvania Farmers Association; and Penn State Alumni Association.

Harold owned and operated Many Springs Dairy Farm for many years. He enjoyed family gatherings, sightseeing, annual PSU visits, telling stories and jokes, and most of all walking through McConnell's Mill State Park. Harold was an associate editor of a book and always had a love of writing. Harold has been a fan of Penn State football and Pittsburgh Pirates over the years.

Harold is survived by five children, Marjorie (Roger) Raybuck and their children, Suzanna, Brian, Henry, Yvette, Carla and Charles, of Falls Creek, Pa.; William (Robin) and their children, Kevin and Aaron, of Ellwood City; David (Elizabeth) and their children, Sarah, Ethan, Zachary, Jacob and Benjamin, of Portersville; MaryLou Niglio (James) and their children, Diane and Amanda, of Mercer, Pa.; and Jerry (Marcy Dietrich) of Portersville. He also is survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Paul Wilson.

WILSON — Family and friends of Harold “Pete” Wayne Wilson, who died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1166 Church Alley, New Castle, officiated by the Rev. Charles Brown. Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery, Slippery Rock.Memorial Contributions may be given to Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church.
