James R. English

James R. English, 95, of Evans City, passed away Monday afternoon, May 31, 2021, at Quality Life Center in Grove City.

Born March 17, 1926, in Zelienople, he was the son of the late Crawford and Edna Baker English.

He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Evans City.

Jim retired from J&L Steel Aliquippa Works in 1985.

Jim was cheerful and always had a smile to welcome you.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.As a member of American Legion Post 474 in Zelienople, he served as the chaplain for many years. He was also a member of VFW Post 499 in Evans City. He also enjoyed bowling.He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Bond English, who passed away on April 27, 2005.He is survived by three daughters, Wynonia (Gregory) Cecci of Washington, N.C., Melinda (Charles) Kildoo of Hermitage, and Pamela (Duane) Cummings of Barkleyville; two sons, James (Patricia) English of Harmony, and Eric (Cheryl) English of Freedom; one sister, Phyllis Erdner of Maryland; one brother, Russell English of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and companion, Dottie Davison.ENGLISH — Friends of James R. English, who died Monday, May 31, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 114 W. Spring St., Zelienople.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.Jim will be laid to rest beside his wife with full military honors in St. Peters Reformed Cemetery in Zelienople.The family suggests memorial donations be made to American Legion Boystown, 700 N.
