BUTLER TWP — No one was injured Thursday morning when a car crashed into the side of a hair salon at 195 New Castle Road, township police said.

A 2010 Subaru Legacy driven by 74-year-old Gloria Navolio of Connoquenessing Township hit the side of the Shear Heaven salon about 11:45 a.m. The woman was attempting to park in front of the building.

“She said her foot slipped off the brake and she coasted into the building,” said Butler Township Police Chief John Hays.

Navolio was evaluated by emergency responders, and she left in a private vehicle. Her car, which sustained front-end damage, was towed away.

While the crash appeared minor, Tara Mueller, owner of the salon, said the impact caused some structural damage to the frame of the building.

She said the glass front door was jammed shut after the accident, and it may need to be replaced.

Larry Christy, township fire marshal, helped inspect the building, which was determined to be structurally sound, authorities said.

Hays said no charges would be filed in the accident.
