The Nautical Nature pontoon boat at Moraine State Park operates cruises on Lake Arthur at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from McDanel’s Launch on the North Shore. Call 724-368-9185. The cruises end with the Oct. 27 Halloween cruise. Reservations are recommended.

McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, hosts an owl prowl at 7 p.m. Saturday from the Kildoo Pavilion. The Heritage Festival will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 29 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 30. A fall foliage hike is planned for 4 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

September Moonrise Star Party, sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh, will begin at 7:15 p.m. Sept. 29, weather permitting, at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, near Russellton. Call 724-224-2510.
