Any Democrat who wants the 2020 nomination for president ought to visit counties like Butler, according to U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-PA.

In a meeting with the Butler Eagle's editorial team Tuesday morning, Casey addressed recent reports that he is considering a run for president.

“I have an obligation to think about it” is all he would offer, and it's all he's offered to several reporters who have recently asked about a run for the Oval Office.

He downplayed his hopes, saying “I think I'm a lot more likely to be a senator than a candidate.”

Casey, a Democrat, won reelection to his third term in November over Republican Lou Barletta. He won back three counties that swung to President Donald Trump in 2016: Erie, Berks and Northhampton.

After his meeting with the Eagle, he toured the Abie Abraham VA Butler Health Care Center. While walking its halls, one man approached him and exclaimed: “Why don't you go back to Washington and get this thing resolved?”
