Butler County unemployment rate trends back down in June
After most Pennsylvania counties saw unemployment rate increases in May, new June estimates show those rates backpedaling downward.
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry's Center for Workforce Information and Analysis released county level unemployment data for June on Tuesday. Butler County's rate was 3.3 percent, according to the new numbers, just above a record low 3.2 percent hit earlier this year.
Lauren Riegel, an analyst for the center, said the rate rise and fall are simply attributable to volatility in county-level data. Looking at the long term level, June's estimate for Butler County is lower than last year's 4 percent.
