Driver hits mailboxes, embankment
CENTER TWP — A man was taken to the hospital Sunday after he hit a bunch of mailboxes and drove head-on into an embankment.
Initial reports around 6:10 p.m. by Butler County 911 dispatchers said the driver was on the ground near the vehicle.
“He got out himself,” said Nathan Wulff, Unionville Volunteer Fire Company assistant fire chief.
Wulff said the man was conscious as EMS assisted him into an ambulance, which took him to the hospital for unknown injuries.
State police talked with nearby neighbors about the crash and the mailboxes scattered about the road and a nearby yard.
The mailboxes were bunched in a group and were taken out as the pickup truck crossed the road.
State police said the truck was initially traveling in the northbound lane, before hitting the mailboxes and crashing into the embankment.
The scene cleared around 6:40 p.m., when a tow truck arrived and wrenched the truck free from the embankment. State police are continuing to investigate the crash.
