Probe continues into Middlesex bank robbery
Middlesex Township police continue to investigate the Saturday robbery of a township bank.
Township police responded to the robbery call about noon Saturday at Northwest Bank, 1421 Pittsburgh Road.
According to multiple reports, a man wielding a gun entered the bank and stole an undetermined amount of money.
Representatives from both state police and the FBI said they were called to assist at the scene, but noted the township department was leading the investigation.
State police said they specifically were asked to utilize their Forensic Services Unit for processing the crime scene.
State police also noted that its helicopter was not used in the search for the alleged robber, despite multiple reports stating otherwise.
According to the township bank’s phone messaging system, it was closed Monday. The corporate office also was closed and unable to be reached for comment.
Middlesex Township Police as of Sunday night said they could not comment further on the investigation.
