Archie W. Mann

Archie W. Mann, 83, of Butler died Thursday evening in the comfort of his home.

Born Feb. 23, 1933, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Andrew B. Mann and Elizabeth Wilson Mann.

Archie was self-employed as owner and optician of the A.B. Mann Co. in Butler for 46 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler, and had enjoyed woodworking, traveling, spending time with his family and wintering in Florida for 10 years.

Archie had been a former president of the Butler Blind Association, and was on the board of the Downtown Butler Association and the Butler Water and Sewer Authority. He was a member of the Guild Opticians of Pittsburgh and the Masons Lodge 272 in Butler.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957 at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

Surviving is his wife, Sylvia S. Thomas Mann, who he married Dec. 16, 1977.

His children, Joel (Patty) Mann of Chicora, Jane (Brian) Aiken of Valencia, Gretchen (Jeff) Bauer of Okatie, S.C., Shawn (Rebecca) Roskovski of Butler and Scott (Stephanie) Roskovski of Butler; his sister, Dorothy Mann Klee of Grove City; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Ashley; and two nieces, Liz Klee Tissue and Becky Klee Campbell also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Archie W. Mann II.

MANN — Friends of Archie W. Mann, who died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler.A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev.
