Driver faces DUI charges

SUMMIT TWP — A suspected drunken driver ended a long way from where he wanted to go.

Devin P. Milliken, 30, of Worthington, Armstrong County, thought he was headed south to Allegheny County. But when state police awakened him in his still running sport utility vehicle stopped on Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township, troopers told Milliken of his wayward journey.

“The defendant was surprised that he was in Butler County and did not believe me,” the arresting officer said in charging documents.

Milliken faces a preliminary hearing April 7 on charges of driving under the influence and several traffic violations stemming from his arrest earlier this month.

Police said they came upon his Toyota 4Runner at 5 a.m. March 2. The vehicle was stopped and the engine running. Milliken was behind the wheel sleeping.

Officers had to knock several times on the windows to rouse him, court documents said. Troopers said they smelled alcohol coming from the suspect and his vehicle.

He told police he was coming from home and traveling south en route to O’Hara Township.

But Trooper David Naberezny told him that he was northbound on Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township.

Along with being foggy on his whereabouts, he apparently was just as unclear about the time.

Police took Milliken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. But once there, he refused to take the test.

He later was released after a relative arrived to take him home.

Meanwhile, Milliken has a pending DUI case in Armstrong County in connection with a Jan. 24 arrest in West Franklin Township
