Janet Trockenbrot

Janet Trockenbrot

Janet Lee (Alford) Trockenbrot, formerly of Timonium, Md., surrendered her life force to our gracious Lord on Aug. 26, 2021, in the home of her daughter, Karen Lynn Wahl of Harmony.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1935, and was the daughter of Leon and Hazel Denbow Alford.

Janet developed a tenacity and true zest for life after suffering and surviving a severe case of rheumatic fever as a child. At the time, one of the few treatments was to house and treat children in a local convalescent home (Happy Hills Convalescent Home). Janet lived there from the age of 5 to 16, which impacted her childhood uncharitably. Fortunately, she rallied and went on to graduate as a registered nurse from Union Memorial Nursing School.

As a nurse, she trained in critical care, OB-GYN (her favorite), and psychiatry and trauma, where she met the love of her life – her husband. All told, she worked as a hospital nurse for over 20 years, and an additional five years for a private OB-GYN physician, Dr. Stephen Hooper. She retired in 1992, to spend more time with her family.

As a member of the community, she was active in multiple bridge clubs and was a key member of the Woodbrook Baptist Church as part of the choir and the kitchen/custodian crew.

She was utterly devoted to her family and both she and Tim arranged for yearly vacations to their beach house in Ocean City, until it was sold. She and Tim then took the assets, and paid for continuing yearly family vacations in the Outer Banks, N.C. One could see over 24 family members, including 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, packed into a single beach house, exposing her family to crabbing in the Chesapeake Bay, sun and fun on the beach, a multitude of family games and togetherness and lots of seafood!

Her many hobbies included Cub Scouts, Girl Scouting, sewing and quilting.

In February 2020, both Tim and Janet moved to Harmony, to live with their daughter and family, due to worsening health issues.

She was preceded in death by three of her brothers, Clifton Boyd Alford, Richard Eugene Alford and Donald Gordon Alford; and one grandson, Jason Ross Wahl.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Timothy Leander Trockenbrot Jr.; a brother, James Gilbert Alford; two sons, Timothy Leander Trockenbrot III, and Eric Clough Trockenbrot; and two daughters, Susan Leslie Smith and Karen Lynn Wahl.

Her passion for life and her family will always be remembered.
